The
Project 1171 Tapir Large Landing Ship (Bol'shoy Desatnyy Korabl' BDK) is a beachable,
general-purpose LST-type design with bow and stern ramps for unloading vehicles.
Produced in at least four different types beginning in 1964, there are numerous
variations in detail between units. A total of 14 vessels were completed between
1964 and 1975 Large Landing Ship BDK-69 was built by Yantar Zavod, Kaliningrad.
Laid down 30 August 1967 (yard No.296), launched 29 February 1968, commissioned
05 December 1968. 20 Oct 2002 the ship was renamed to Orsk. Now in
