The Uda class is a series of fleet replenishment
oilers built in 1960s for the Soviet Navy and
currently in service with the Russian Navy. A
replenishment oiler or replenishment tanker is
a naval auxiliary ship with fuel tanks and dry
cargo holds which can supply both fuel and dry
stores during underway replenishment at sea. As
the Soviet Navy began to more regularly operate
in large areas of the world's oceans and because
of the emergence of the large ocean warships,
demand for large surface supply ships increased.
Built in Vyborg, these 8 oilers served on all
four fleets of the USSR Navy: 1 on the Black Sea
Fleet, 1 on the Pacific Fleet, 4 on the Baltic
Fleet and 2 on the Northtern Fleet.
The maximum length of the ship is 122 m, the
maximum width16 m and draft 6,5 m. When in standard
load, the ship has displacement about 2,910 tons
and 7,240 tons while fully loaded. Endurance of
the ships is 30 days during which they can travel
the distance about 4,000 nm. The oilers of this
class are equipped with a device for the transfer
of goods in move by the traverse method. This
allows carrying out cargo operations during significant
sea waves. They are also capable of refueling
over the stern. Initially, the ships were supposed
to be armed with two four-barreled 57-mm ZIF-75
cannons with the MR-103 Bars fire control system,
but in reality this protective weapon was not
installed.
Replenishment Oiler Koyda laid down 15 Decemder
1964 at the Shipyard No.870, Vyborg (yard No.757),
launched 26 May 1966, commissioned 28 July 1966
and was assigned to the Black Sea Fleet.
Now in service.
