Large
hydrographic boats (BGK) of Project 19920 are designed to perform highly accurate
areal surveys of the bottom relief, maintenance of floating and coastal aids to
navigation equipment, and the delivery of personnel and cargo to the unequipped
coast. Large hydrographic boats of Project 19920 were developed in the city of
Nizhny Novgorod at Vympel Design Bureau OJSC for replacing and expanding the capabilities
of outdated BGK Hydrographic services in the Russian Navy, parts of coastal troops,
naval bases and polygons. Large Hydrographic Boat BGK-2150 laid down on
14 May 2014 at the Vympel Shipyard, Rybinsk (yard No.01844), launched on 05 July
2016, commissioned on 21 November 2016 and was assigned to the Black Sea Fleet.
