The
Vishnya class (also known as the Meridian class) are a group of intelligence collection
ships built for the Soviet Navy in the 1980s. The ships continue in service with
the Russian Navy. These ships are large, purpose built ships designed for SIGINT
and COMINT electronic intelligence via an extensive array of sensors. The data
could be transmitted to shore via satellite link antennas. The ships are armed
with two AK-306 close-in weapon systems and SAM launchers. Intelligence
ship Priazovye laid down 08 April 1986 at the Stocznia Polnocna Shipyard (Gdansk,
Poland), yard No.864/4, launched 30 September 1986, commissioned 12 June 1987. In
2008 electronic intelligence equipment of the ship were modernized. Now
